About Us
Dedicated To Youth Foundation, Inc. is non-profit organization that has been
developed to fight one of our nation's leading health threats - childhood
obesity while enhancing social skills and developing high self-esteem. We
provide programs that will allow families, communities, and the youth to
learn how to make healthier life-style choices.
Our Mission
To reduce the epidemic of childhood obesity by raising awareness, educate,
and inspire families, communities, and youth through nutrition and physical
activity programs throughout the state of Maryland and surrounding areas.
Our Goals
The goal of the Dedicated To Youth Foundation is to stop the nationwide
increase in childhood obesity and to empower kids all across our state to
make healthy lifestyle choices. Dedicated To Youth Foundation will
positively affect the places that can make a difference to a child's health:
homes, schools, restaurants, doctor's offices, and the community. We will
give our students, parents, and communities the tools necessary to surround
themselves with healthy options. If we don't take immediate action, this
generation of children stands to be the first in history to have a shorter
life span than that of its parents.
Public Awareness
Dedicated To Youth Foundation goal is to raise the general public's
awareness regarding the rising rates of childhood obesity. We believe our
programs are vital to the goal of decreasing childhood obesity amongst are
communities and that an informed public will help to reduce the likelihood
and potential increase number of overweight and obese children in our
communities. The following activities are utilized by the foundation in an
effort to inform a broad spectrum of the community, including youth service
agencies, state and local government, the media, and members of the
community (i.e. youth and parents):
- Community Events (providing events for local communities to
participate in that will provide activities and workshops on making
healthier life style choices)
- Community Outreach & Marketing (coordinate, promote, develop and
distribute educational resource tools)
- Communications & Information Distribution (writing & editing
newsletters, list-serves, website, e-mail notices)
- Media & Public Relations Activities (utilizing news briefs, press
releases, announcements of research findings, press conferences, interviews,
advisories, articles, etc.)
